The  Cliff-carved  Buddha  of
Bulam-san's  East Cheonbo-sa
At the foot of the high eastern cliff of Cheonbo-san, a place formerly used for San-shin
veneration, up behind the Main Hall and over right (north) of the Samseong-Bogung Shrine
This image of Sakyamuni, the original Buddha, in meditation
/ confirming pose, was carved in 2000 along with the others.
Directly above the new Buddha there is a stained triangular rockface with a barely-visible
shallow-carved
(sunken-relief line-carving or intaglio) figure, said by the temple to be an ancient
icon of
Gwanse-eum-bosal [Bodhisattva of Compassion].  This is unconfirmed, but fascinating; it
certainly is a very feminine image, with Buddhist characteristics (such as 3 neck-rings).

Votive offerings, an increasing modern trend, left on the small
pagoda to the Buddha's left or on the crude-stone wall behind it.
