Changwon City   Bulmo-san
Seongju-sa
Ancient Temple on the Naknam-Jeongmaek Range
South Gyeongsang Province
Seongju-sa Temple is located deep in a valley on the western slopes of Bulmo-san [Buddha-Mother
Mountain], 2 km west of the 802-m summit.  Bulmo-san is a massive ridge-complex that dominates
the eastern side of Changwon City and divides it from Gimhae City, just 6 km north of the Nam-hae
[South Sea] coastline.  It includes the subsidiary peaks Ung-san 710m, Hwa-san 799m, Piltan-san
673m, Gulam-san 662m
(with Seongheung-sa Temple to its south), Yongji-bong 744m (with Jangyu-sa
Temple to its east)
, Daeam-san 670m and Bieom-san 486m.  The Bulmo-san mountains are the last
high (above 500m) part of the
Naknam-Jeongmaek Range that runs through southern South
Gyeongsang Province, just before it ends on the west side of the Nakdong River.  On the classical
rendering of the
Baekdu-daegan Mountain-system, Bulmo-san is not on the Naknam-Jeongmaek
but is a spur going south from it at Yongji-bong 744m called the
Bulmo-jimaek, but in the Shin-san-
gyeongpo
(modern topographical revision book) this Jimaek is actually the end of the Naknam.
