These are two remote Buddhist hermitages close to the Baekdu-daegan Ridge-line Trail. They are on the
east face of the southern main-ridge of Hwangak-san [Yellow-Crags Mountain, 1111-m] in Daehang-myeon
District on the west side of Gimcheon City. Samseong-am [Three Sages Hermitage] and Cheonbul-am
are subsidiary to the great monastery Jikji-sa, used by monks for isolated meditation, study or practices,
rarely ever visited by foreigners. Samseong-am is about 800m above sea-level, just 150m below the
crest, only accessible up a narrow 4-km road from the Hwashil-jae [Flower-room Pass] at Jurye Village.
