The altar for brilliant Neo-Confucian scholar, Buddhist monk  and author "Maewol-dang" Kim Si-seup
梅月堂 金時習 매월당 김시습 (1435–1493), in the unique Yeongjeong-gak Hall, honoring that
he spent his final years at this once-great monastery, writing some classics of Korean literature.
In his philosophy are some of the first egalitarian/democratic ideas ever known in Korea, summarized

as "the king and nobility should respect all of the nation's people, regardless of their origin or status."
