Hae-ryong-sa on Aeng-san
Aeng-san Kwan-jeong-sa
Also on Mireuk / San-bang-san, the tiny Byeok-su-am [Wall-water Hermitage, refering to a spring seeping from a cliff there] enshrines these powerful-looking Yong-wang and San-shin altars.

Above and Below: Superb icons from Nae-won-sa
[Inner Origin Temple] on the southern slope of
Mireuk-san [Maitreya or Boddhisattva-of-the-Future
Mountain] also known as San-bang-san.
It's quite rare for San-shin (upper left) to have fully
black hair and whiskers...
In this detail from the Shin-jung icon above, San-shin
(center-left) is holding a root-like branch of coral, very
rare. He often holds a ginseng root, and coral is a
scepter-symbol of the Yong-wang; this type of
icon-conflation is common in the southern-coastal
regions.
Above: The Emperor of Heaven.
Left: a standing stone enshrined as the
Cheseok-Buddha or maybe Yaksa-yorae
[Buddha of Medicine] (see pages 104-109 in my book).
Below: from the Nae-won-sa valley, a glimpse
of the peak of Mireuk-san / San-bang-san,
which dominates western Geoje-do. For more on
the relation of Mireuk-Buddha to Sanshin see These Pages.
