North area of Valencia County, West of Dumaguete City Red Rocks / Pulangbato Gorge, Hot-Spring and Waterfalls -- a primary attraction of the Dumaguete area

Along the main NW Valencia Road just before the gorge entrance, is the smelly plumes of sulfuric steam on the broken mountainside across from the river -- which has become a popular place to stop for tourist photos.

On the other side of that road and down, flows the clean Upper Okoy River, with a rope-bridge crossing to the tiny roadless villages on the southern banks.

Just after the sulfuric vents, the Red Rocks Gorge appears on the right, as its iron-rich waters flow into the Upper Okoy River here. From the roadway looking north, we see the small cement bridge that crosses the stream, allowing access on a small dirt road the hot-spring and waterfalls.

The steep volcano-rock crags on the west side of the gorge

Entrance of the Red Rocks / Pulangbato Hot Springs, in the lower gorge

It's a not-really-hot but quite warm spring-water, very rich in minerals (not iron as in the stream) like magnesium, zinc, copper and etc; everyone says it feels very healing & soothing.
