Sogni-san's Baek-il-San-jedan
[White-First Mountain-Ceremony-Altar]
This is a large-scale overhanging-cliff/boulder-complex just
200 meters below Munjang-dae [Culture-Guardian Platform],
Sogni-san's 2nd-highest peak.  It has long been a primary site
for mountain-worship for the people of the Sangju City region.
A natural "stone gate" is the
ancient  northern entrance to this
altar, while the southern side is
open to the modern trail up to
Munjang-dae.
Right beside the San-shin Altar, a spring of pure
drinkable mineral-water flows out from under some
gigantic rocks.  This is a source of the I-an-cheon
Stream, a tributary of the Nakdong River.
The Altar's area provides some stunning
views of the major peaks of Sogni-san.
There's a small cave that someone might once have slept in; it now contains an old rolled-up mat.  Also a secondary cliff-shelter.
